first entry!

So this is the first of many entries we will make as the three of us travel across America in my 1981 Subaru GL wagon!

Our intended route east looks something like this: east

and our return should look something like this: west

Right now we have nearly $200 in dry/ canned foods which we hope will help us survive as inexpensively as possible. That being said at some point we will finish this food and may end up eating road kill! Hopefully someone will take pity on us before it comes to that :) This trip is about meeting people as much as it is about seeing our country.

The truth is I haven't seen anything east of Yellow Stone national park. I haven't even seen the Grand Canyon! While rough planning our route we realized that most of the things we wanted to see were west cost places because we have no idea whats even out there on the east coast!

Over the past couple of weeks I've done a lot of work on my Subaru to prepare it for this trip. I did tires, brakes, CV axels, ball joints, wheel bearings and seals, oil pan gasket, crank front oil seal, transmission stub oil seal, alternator and water pump... but being an old car something else is bound to fail at some point :)

Yesterday we installed a stereo in the car! Tomorrow we will post pictures of the final packing preparations as we get ready to leave Portland, Oregon bright and early tuesday morning and travel America for the next couple of months!

  2. Whats up fellas. This is a greeting from the Walmart cop in Ormond Beach Fl. I see y'all left the parking lot. Hope no one kicked y'all out. Well stay safe and have fun. Keep that Subaru in shape, it puts "epic" in y'alls' trip.
